Prayer and Fasting Daily Readings: Day 2 - Feasting In Faith
Feasting In Faith
Have you ever felt the deep hunger for something more in your spiritual life, the sense that there’s a deeper well to draw from? It’s as if God is inviting you to feast on His Word and walk in His Spirit. Today, we focus on nourishing our souls with the Scriptures and living in the power of the Holy Spirit. This is where true spiritual vitality is found.
“Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.” — Psalm 119:105 (NLT)
Old Testament: Deuteronomy 8:1-3
“Be careful to obey all the commands I am giving you today. Then you will live and multiply, and you will enter and occupy the land the Lord swore to give your ancestors. Remember how the Lord your God led you through the wilderness for these forty years, humbling you and testing you to prove your character, and to find out whether or not you would obey his commands. Yes, he humbled you by letting you go hungry and then feeding you with manna, a food previously unknown to you and your ancestors. He did it to teach you that people do not live by bread alone; rather, we live by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.”
Pray:
“Lord, help me to understand that I do not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from Your mouth. Nourish my soul with Your Word and guide me in Your truth.”
New Testament: John 14:15-17, 25-26
“If you love me, obey my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you. He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive him, because it isn’t looking for him and doesn’t recognize him. But you know him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you. … I am telling you these things now while I am still with you. But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative—that is, the Holy Spirit—he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you.”
Pray:
“Jesus, thank You for sending the Holy Spirit to guide me into all truth. Help me to walk in the Spirit daily, relying on His wisdom and strength. Teach me to listen and respond to Your Spirit’s leading.”
Psalm: Psalm 119:9-16
“How can a young person stay pure? By obeying your word. I have tried hard to find you—don’t let me wander from your commands. I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you. I praise you, O Lord; teach me your decrees. I have recited aloud all the regulations you have given us. I have rejoiced in your laws as much as in riches. I will study your commandments and reflect on your ways. I will delight in your decrees and not forget your word.”
Pray:
“Lord, help me to hide Your Word in my heart so that I might not sin against You. Teach me Your decrees and help me to delight in Your commandments.”
Proverbs: Proverbs 4:20-23
“My child, pay attention to what I say. Listen carefully to my words. Don’t lose sight of them. Let them penetrate deep into your heart, for they bring life to those who find them, and healing to their whole body. Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.”
Pray:
“Lord, help me to pay attention to Your words and let them penetrate deep into my heart. Guard my heart and guide my steps according to Your will.”
Today, as we continue our fast, let’s focus on feasting on God’s Word and walking in the Spirit. As we nourish our souls with Scripture and live in the power of the Holy Spirit, may we experience a deeper connection with God and His guidance in our lives.
Closing Prayer:
“Father, thank You for the gift of Your Word and the presence of Your Holy Spirit. As I go through this day, help me to feast on Your Word and walk in the Spirit. Guide me, teach me, and empower me to live according to Your will. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
